A Disk with Bite
Michael M. Wilk | Howard Beach, NY | 05/04/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I have to hand it to Hammer films, or, as I call them, the studio of the 3 "B"s: Blood, Boobs, and Bouffants! The Hammer horrors always featured lots of blood, and women with awesome cleavages and hairdos. musical scores. This disk features excerpts from four of their vampire films, two of which were composed by the prolific James Bernard. My personal favorite, "Kiss of The Vampire", features a dark, Lisztian piano, which was later reorchestrated by Bernard into a concert piece, "Vampire Rhapsody". It is an hypnotic, seductive piece, which added tremendously to the feeling of pervasive evil in the film. The 3 other scores represented on the disk are "The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires", which has some vague "oriental" strains running through it, as well as some revamped passages from Bernard's famous "Horror of Dracula" score, "Lust for a Vampire", and "Vampire Circus". "Circus" is an unusual score, and features a "Tiger Dance", which sounds as if it was performed by Perez Prado, complete with shouts of "Uh!", and bongo drums! If you are a Hammer Films fan, then this is a fairly entertaining disk that you can "sink your teeth into!""
