CD Reviews

Good value for money
J. Moore | Grenada, MS United States | 05/08/2003
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I bought this because it contained all the tracks from "Bigger than Both of US" which was the first H&O I owned and because THAT cd is hard to find these days. So Half the CD is add on tracks. The weakest tracks are in fact from one of their best-selling albums "h20" They sound dated as if they are locked into 1982. The other tracks come from "Beauty on a Back street", "Ooh Yeah" and the title track from 1990's "Change of Season" Of these the best are the ones closer to "Bigger than both of us" including the trak of that title that appeared on the Back street album (go figure). Hall and Oates have been a little disparaging about the earlier albums and criticized the production but for many of us, Christopher Bonds crisp clean approach was welcome. Only down side. The track "Emptiness" sounded better on vinyl! The plus side....plenty of John Oates songs. As much as I love DAryl's songs , I think John Oates has been vastly underated as a songwriter and a musician."
