Synopsis

Album Description
Welcome to the Playlist series. We've fished through hundreds of tracks to cherry pick the perfect playlists. Not just the hits, but...the life-changing songs. The out-of-print tracks. The fan favorites everyone loves. The songs that make the artists who they are. You'll no doubt enjoy the sound of the beautifully remastered songs on this CD, unlike the compromised sound of an MP3 file. You might also like the fact that the packages are environmentally-friendly (no plastic, 100% recycled paper). But we think the thing you'll appreciate most about this Playlist is that even though you didn't make it, you might wish you did. This package has been created with the environment in mind. All of the paperboard is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable. Of course, we would prefer that you not throw this package or CD away. We would prefer that you keep it in your collection to enjoy for many years to come! Full liner notes, photos, and more included as a PDF file on this CD. Enjoy!

This cd came in an eco friendly package, so no front or back inserts. Also, track 15 is actually a pdf file of the liner notes.

Method Of Oates Love

(3 out of 5 stars)

"When it came down to the music of the 70's and 80's, there have been few groups far and in between that have survived the aradox of being guilty pleasures. While some of them have fizzled in record sales like Chicago, others have strived to still making quality music. That has shown for well over 35 years with Hall & Oates. During their career as a duo, Daryl and John have made some of the best guilty pleasures that still withstand the testiment of time, heart and soul. While they've suffered a few career setback in the late 80's and 90's, they've reunited and showed again just what great soul is really all about. They've also made several greatest hits albums over the years, and have a playlist for fans as their own. However, is the playlist good, or just a kiss not on the list.

Playlist: Hall & Oates is a new inexpensive compilation series from SonyBMG, that features some of your favorite singers and performers at the top of their game. This 2008 Hall & Oates edition is a single disc compilation that tries to showcase the duo well to a whole new generation. Unfortunately, it feels like it is a bit pale in comparison to other dynamic hits albums from Hall & Oates including the acclaimed 2004 Ultimate Hall & Oates double album, and the 2001 Very Best Of Hall & Oates, which highlighted their years at RCA very well from 1976-1984.

Still, the album fares as a decent sampler for anyone who has not yet even owned a Hall & Oates record. the collection still does include some of their standards including One On One, Kiss On My List, as well as their first breakout hits including Sara Smile & Rich Girl. There are a few surprises here as well, including the rare radio single version of Out Of Touch and their last Top 40 hit Everything Your Heart Desires.

While that might be all fine and dandy, there are a whole lot of great Hall & Oates tracks that really were overlooked including guilty pleasures like You Make My Dreams, Method Of Modern Love, and recent classics like Do It For Love and Getaway Car to name a few. All in all though, Playlist: Hall & Oates isn't bad for $5, but not great enough for die hard fans young and old. If you really want to buy a great Hall & Oates record for your music library, you're really much better off with Ultimate Hall & Oates or another hits collection instead.

Out Of Touch

"The long awaited and overdue video mix version of the classic "Out Of Touch" has finally arrived, the main reason why I purchased this CD.

Plus several other single versions on this disc also I've waited for. How did Playlist manage to do that without the politics bull? Good job! At least SOMEONE out there has the idea of what us listeners want.

For a very (VERY) picky music collector like me, it was well worth the purchase...and a reasonable price.

Would've been cool though to pay the few extra bucks to add a bonus DVD music video version of these songs. From what I know, the music video of "Out Of Touch" has not been released on DVD yet. Hopefully soon.

Also, I would've liked to see the CD in a standard CD jewel case which would've looked great on my 2,000+ CD collection shelf. I'm environmental friendly myself.... but some traditions just ain't worth messin' with."
