My favorite Guster Album
R. Ding | USA | 10/26/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Having listened to all of Guster's albums, I have to say that I like this one the most.

Lost and Gone Forever has a good mixture of fast and slow songs and is a pretty good CD to play in the background. Its only downside is that it is a relatively early album, so after having listened to Guster live this year, the album versions of What You Wish For, Barrel of a Gun and etc. sounds sort of amature compared to their style now.

Ganging up on the Sun feels really unfinished as it starts with Lightning Rod which is very good but short, but then Satellite is only an okay song that I don't know why people like so much. The tone and mood totally changes though with the third song Manifest Destiny, and then it sort of jumps around and feels really inconsistent. I don't exactly like how the lyrics or just the songs were written. They have good tunes, but they could have been much better if they were worked on more.

I don't know why but Goldfly just does not appeal to me. It sounds way too aggressive and not as happy or easy-listening as the usual Guster style.

There is this other album but I've read bad reviews so I did not bother buying it.

Which leaves us Keep It Together. I just love this CD. I can listen to it over and over, and the majority of the songs are really really good. Diane, Careful, Keep it Together, Come Downstairs and Say Hello are some of my top favorite Guster songs. The quality of songs is very consistent and I just love the mood and tone of this CD in general, it is very uplifting and easy to listen to.

If you haven't heard Guster, definitely go with this album, either this or Lost and Gone Forever."
