if 'progressive pop' existed as a genre this record would probably be best described in that way. the songs are easy to digest on a first listen basis but reveal themselves better as they are given time. recorded in single day sessions mostly in Chicago's Gravity Studios by Doug McBride starting in 1995, the album has a freshness that comes from one-take performances and spur of the moment arrangement ideas. drummer Bill Swartz (Caviar, Fig Dish, Nectarine, The Girls, Ultraswiss) throughout and cellist Eric Remschneider (Smashing Pumpkins, Hole) on 'minus me' are highlights musically.
