"I first heard the Gundecha Brothers live on a recent trip to India. It was at the annual music festival for Swami Vivakanada's birthday in Kolkata jan 2007. I was amazed at their amazing technique, beautiful tone and incredible sound. This recording recreates the spirit of that concert. Although recorded at a live festival in 2001, the sound quality is excellent as is the performance of this wonderful jugalbandi or duet performance. Dhrupad is one of the most ancient vocal forms of India and has it's roots in Vedic chanting, a 2000 year old tradition. Given the time needed for appreciation, this music will captivate and reward the listener with it's deeply meditative quality."
