CD Reviews

Great CD, good DVD as well

"This is a very good CD. I've listened to it about 2 or 3 times, and it's awesome. I bought the Dual Disc whenever it came out, and the DVD side has some music videos along with interviews and such. So far, I've been able to play the audio side of the CD in my car stereo, home cd changer, dvd player, and my computer's E: Drive. However, my computer could not read the audio side correctly when I placed it in my D: drive. Oh well, it's still an awesome CD, and supposedly Gretchen is working on a new CD called "All Jacked Up" for release near the end of the year."
Interesting format; fine/fun artist

"The album I have has one disk with two sides. One side is an audio CD (which I played in both a regular CD player & in my computer); the other is a DVD which I played in my computer. It has the two saucy hits: "Here for the Party" and "Redneck Woman" that Gretchen performed at the recent Country Music Awards show -- at which she won 2 prestigious awards. Both are on both sides, but the DVD side also includes videos of several songs including these two. It also has interviews in which Gretchen is very down-to-earth and authentic. Very refreshing. Reminiscent of her obvious surprise at winning her 2nd award on the show. The DVD also has "Outlaw Women" -- a duet with Hank Williams, Jr. which is not on the CD side. The DVD side does not have all the songs (10) on the CD side. Some of these are ballads--quite different from the 1st two hits. The lyrics are often quite direct and meaningful--some things we might take to heart. I especially liked "What Happened" and "The Bed" as well as "When I think About Cheatin'" (which also on the DVD)--at the Grand Old Opry with B&W shots of older musicians/performers. "Pocahantas Proud" appears to be autobiographical. Gretchen co-authored several of the numbers including the first two. John Rich collaborated on quite a few. Big & Rich collaborated on the title song--and perform on "The Bed." It's a quality album by a fine talent--a great buy for what you get."
