Synopsis

Album Description
Greensleeves, the Northwest's acclaimed harp and flute duo, presents a collection of exquisite traditional songs, dances and airs from Northern Lands. "Tradisjon", the Norwegian word for "tradition", expresses the deep interest and involvement of the three artists with ancient song styles of Scandinavia and Great Britain. The two talented vocalists, Beth Kolle' and Terryanne Baker Reinert, with harpist Susan McLain, collaborate from two continents to bring their unique style to the world. With the lyrical flute and delicate Celtic harp, the classical guitar and traditional vocals, the listener is transported to mystical times and places. This album includes two live performances. 1. The Shepherd's Daughter - This ballad from the Isle of Man is strongly reminiscent of the old Norse epic ballads, although the lyrics are more typical of Celtic ballads. The story is of a young shepherd's daughter whose beauty catches the eye of a knight from the nearby castle. The harp and flute capture the essence of both Nordic and Celtic influences in the melody. 2 So rodde dei fjordan - This lyrical Norwegian song describes a life of isolation, both in the distances one must travel to reach the church, and in the distance imposed by the church between the men and women. Performed by Terryanne and Beth, vocals and guitar.
