The Most Superb Harpsichord Sampler

A full complement of emotions is displayed here, from the most delicate and sparing texture to the most rip-roaring martial roar. If you're wondering what the harpsichord is about, or if you're already a fan and want a great sampler to play for your own delight and amusement, you cannot go wrong with this recording."

"This is a good recording for those who wish to acquaint themselves with this incredible 500-year-old instrument. This cd contains some of the most well-known keyboard tunes of the baroque era, and gives a good sample of the capabilities of the harpsichord. Mr. Kipnis does have a tendency toward playing pieces a bit too quickly in my opinion, however, his improvisations are quite good (especially on Handel's "Sarabande")."
