"Recording the majestic organ at Washington National Cathedral is a daunting task. The acoustics are difficult at best. There is only one recording that showcases this organ at its best (1973, Paul Callaway, organist). This is one LP that I actually took the time to transfer to CD. However, this release with Douglas Major is the next best thing. The performances are spectacular, and the colors of this magnificent instrument are displayed beautifully. However, the inevitable reverberation destorts the clarity of some aspects of the music. A valiant effort at a difficult recording project."
