Synopsis

Album Description
CD "River" by Grazyna Auguscik its musical eclecticism, is jazz in all its contemporary potential. Pulsating rhythmic section, exhilarating ride, different musical origins uncanny impression of wholeness, featuring Terry Callier, Her alto - warm, hypnotic scat-work simply remarkable, must-hear experience. "The first (suprise) release of 2002 for me - Grazyna Auguscik. Her new cd is "River" on her own label. Even at a time with so many female vocalists - I love this record! Contemporary yet very musical. Great version of Kenny Garrett's "Sing a song of song" - this is the kind of stuff I wish Smooth Jazz stations were playing! Excellent guitar work from John McLean and David Onderdonk. Nicely arranged, performed and engineered. She has a beautiful voice, with some interesting vocalise parts. If you haven't dug this one out of your pile yet, I'd recommend it!"

"I had read about Graz in the Chicago newspapers in early 2002 when River was released but didn't get to hear her until the Chicago Jazz Fest on a scorching hot afternoon in late August. Let's just say this Graz took the stage and performed and I almost forgot it was hot. I didn't know what to expect from her and she simply took control of the overflow crowd and took us to another place, actually several, first and foremost Poland, then Brasil, then back home to Chicago. I thought I knew jazz, well Graz taught me something that day. I completly love her music, and within a few weeks I purchased every Graz CD I could find and have not been disappointed with any of them. She also has a website which is Grazynaauguscik.com and it tells about, you can buy cds and find out her performing schedule. This CD was the first a lot of people got to hear of her, its a collage of ballads, folk music, Brasillian, Polish & American jazz and its a must have for anyone interested, involved or who enjoys "good" jazz or any kind of music worth talking about."
Beautiful album

"A great voice that conveys originality and beauty. This album offers a lot of variety. The album apparently was self made and self promoted so I guess you won't see big posters about the artist (a plus for me!). I heard River first a jazz program on NPR in Chicago and this houting sound made me buy the CD. This is one of my favorites contemporary Jazz albums. Can't wait to see the artist on stage."
