"
This is required listening for any Hip-Hop fan no collection is complete without it. Before the likes of 2Pac, DMX, and Snoop Dog, just to name a few of todays great musical and lyrical commentators on today's issues and injustices there was Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five(nevermind The Sugarhill Gang, as well as Kurtis Blow). It was these who have been instrumental in Hip-Hop's growth into what it is today. Songs like The Message, The Message II, and White Lines that continue to live today with the same vitality today as they did in their day. I really love how Cutfather has downshifted White Lines from it's original dance tempo into a Hip-Hop setting. This has never been done before even though this song has been complimented with many remixes since it's incarnation and the song is very much at home in it's new musical interpre-tation--even more so than in a dance tempo. Now lets not forget that this song was originaly "dancy", and David Ospina shows this song love and respect by keeping it's original elements in mind as he takes the song to todays dancefloors. The Message also is "at home" in it's new musical interpretations. This cd also includes "The Adventures Of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel", a mega-mix of Grandmaster songs blended to perfection and interwoven with Blondie's "Rapture", Chic's "Goodtimes" and Queen's classic: "Another one Bites The Dust". Also included are some previously unreleased recordings. Like any Rock n' Rock fans worth their salt will know about and rever Jimi Hendrix, no Hip-Hop fan should be ignorant of the great works such as this nor the Hip-Hop sirens of yesteryear who laid the foundation of this enduring and vibrant genre."
