CD Reviews

Graciela- This is the way i like to hear it! :)

(5 out of 5 stars)

"My Favorite Favorite song on this album is "Te Perdi La Fe" it is such a pretty song and her voice is the MOST BEAUTIFUL on this song. the title is cute, and her voice is especially high when she sings in this song- it is the sharpest, most piercing and shrill its ever been. now, normally, when most people hear the word "shrill" they roll up into a ball, but with Graciela, this IS her sound- it is unique and fits her perfectly. shrill, high and piercing are the qualities which describe the quality of her voice and its general style, while strong and full describe the tone. She is truly and awesomely amazingly gifted in singing. Now, don't get me wrong- i REALLY don't like the banda sound. it just completely ruins her voice. However, Graciela's shining voice is hard to ignore even in a heap of banda songs. I would really like to see her sing pretty soft ballads and babydoll pop dance songs like that of Selena, Ana Cirre, Ana Gabriel- look at all these women- they have truly the BEST songs going for them- now, if Graciela could just sing their type of music, she would be the most perfect artist out there. Not that she isn't already- but its just that EVEN her music would be just as perfect as she is, if she could complement her beautiful voice with music as beautiful as it. and obviously, banda is not doing her voice justice and sadly overpowering the beauty it brings to MOST ears, because the ugly sound itself is what u notice most. (although with me, since i am a fan, i am able to overook this and appreciate Graciela's voice nevertheless) Aneway, this CD is a compilation of all her past hits when she was around 12-14, and at this time in her life is when her voice was at its most beautiful. High, young, perky, full of energy, impetuous, stratospheric, bright, shrill, piercing- everything. There are a few hi-lites for those of you who hate banda (which is only normal), like her mariachi hits- these, thankfully, are beautiful songs and the music is delicate and babydoll like. Although, some of the banda hits on here i really do love like "Morena Y Delgadita", "La Madreselva" and "El Amor No Se Vende" because they are sung in a perky, high voice and the melodies are happy, cute, and upbeat, and most of all memorable and infectious (as far as banda goes). "Te Perdi La Fe" is the same as them as well, only it has a special melody that makes it stand out from the rest. (if they just put this song in babydoll dance mix form and got rid of the banda, it would be perfect!) So....buy this album, try it out, and if u hate the music, at least try to see if u appreciate the voice!"
