A great introduction to GPKISM

"ATHEOS is the first album I bought by GPKISM. I recently discovered the Japanese band on Myspace and really loved the songs that they on their profile page. GPKISM comprises of GPK on vocals, synthesizer and programming and Kwiamu (from the Japanese band Blood) on guitars, as well as synthesizer and programming. Asides from having to pay more than $20 for the cd, ATHEOS is as perfect as goth music can be. What stood out for me on the entire album is the classical influences in the music. The melodies is heavily influenced by classical music, surrounded by modern synth beats and thunderous percussion. I was rather surprised that the lyrics were pretty much sung in english. I have to admit it would have been great to hear a song or two in the duo's native Japanese language. Still I loved all of the songs on the entire album. I found GPK's vocals warm and deep. His vocals adds a warmth to the cold melodies. All fourteen tracks are fantastic in my book. All of the songs have solid pop hooks without being treacly and annoying. Despite having to pay over $20 for the cd, I found ATHEOS to be well worth the money. I am so pleased to have discovered GPKISM. They definitely gained another fan in me.
