Smith | Seattle, WA USA | 11/12/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "The first twelve tracks are by The Staple Singers, the next three by Rev. Cleophus Robinson, and the final two by The Pilgrim Travelers. There are no poor cuts on this album although the Robinson rendition of Sweet Little Jesus Boy pales beside the Staple's version - Mavis (?) Staple truly makes this song her own. There Was a Star also shines as a Staple Singers number. Each of the groups has a rendition of Silent Night - sufficiently different to add to the interest of the album.There are comparatively few Black Gospel Christmas albums - this would rate near the top even in a broader field."
