CD ReviewsDelightful instrumental Jeanius | North Carolina | 10/28/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "I first saw/heard Gontiti (a duo, I think?) on "CBS Sunday Morning" years ago (I think Charles Kuralt was still hosting). They played "Coconut Basket" and had an accompanying video by creating designs in sand with a rope--very neat. It was difficult to find the (cassette) tape and after music moved to CDs, my searches for it turned up empty...until now!
All that to say, it's one of the nicest group of instrumental arrangements I've ever heard; pleasant and islandic (if that's a word) and Asian-influenced. Listen to the sample tracks and decide for yourself. "Coconut Basket" is still my favorite, but the entire CD reminds me of fish markets under bright awnings and steamed dumplings in banana leaves...delicious!" |
