Looking towards "moontan":end of the hard rock era for GE...

(5 out of 5 stars)

"out of their 4 early 70's hard-rockin albums:this one is tops in my opinion!...not a single duff track here.my favorites are the george kooymans-sung tunes like "buddy joe","all day watcher",and "from heaven from hell".they also practically invent KANSAS-style rock with "brother wind",and they did it 2 years prior to the advent of KANSAS' debut album!."avalanche of love",is also a great zep-styled rocker, with a beautiful ending!."thousand feet below you",is a greatly executed and confident rocker,a good way to end an era...which would move on to trickier, but lusher soundscapes, and the beginning of my favorite GE era:moontan, switch,to the hilt and contraband."
Together has All Day Watcher and cool flute

(5 out of 5 stars)

"The first track All Day Watcher has such a mysterious beginning and with a great social cynicism and powerful bass lines and licks make it my favorite song by far and sets the tone

for a great album including Avalanche of Love, Jangalene (amazing

acoustic guitar) and Brother Wind (cool flute). It took me a while to like Cruisin' Southern Germany and From Heaven from Hell but the whole CD is great. I also have Seven Tears and like

it nearly as well.

Best pre-Moontan album
Jessie | USA | 11/01/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is my favorite pre-Moontan album. "From Heaven, From Hell" is a dark, brooding tune with lots of great falsetto singing from George Kooymans. The song is quite similar to the classic "She Flies On Strange Wings", which is from the inferior Seven Tears album. "Thousand Feet Below You" is also a great song with a catchy, rocking riff. The rest of the tracks are great as well, Jangalene being the low point for me. Many of the songs seem way past their time. A great album, and much better than Seven Tears."
