Synopsis

Album Description
"Walk Between Worlds" consists of 10 compositions of flowing melodies on Native American flutes combined with strings, pianos, guitars, harps, cellos and traditional drumming. "Walk Between Worlds" is currently being heard on radio stations across the US. It debuted at #2 in the New Age Voice (NAV) "Airwaves Top 100" chart in the June 1999 issue reflecting radio airplay and stayed in the top 10 of this chart for 3 consecutive months. This is Golana's second recording of Native American flute compositions. It features 10 instrumental tracks that tell a story of spiritual growth through healing and self-acceptance. "This album is cathartic. It can be used for prayer and meditation but my intention is that it be an instrument of emotional healing," he says. Native American flute music is often improvised but on this recording each piece, with the exception of "Standing at the Gate", has a distinct verse and chorus. "I want the listener to hear the melody continuing to play in their head long after the music stops," explains Golana'. "Spirit at Palatki", which was composed in Sedona while standing before an ancient rock art pictograph of Kokopelli, resonates with the mythical flute player's powerful healing abilities. The title track, "Walk Between Worlds" navigates the bridge between the material and spiritual worlds. "The Longing" expresses the desire to fulfill one's destiny. Echoes of mysterious journeys underscore "Dreaming With You". The theme of facing the dark night of the soul reverberates throughout "Midnight". "The 7th Direction" takes the listener on a circular journey around the Medicine Wheel creating a spiral to enter the heaven 'within'. "Wisdom of the Marks" reflects life lessons in learning patience. "Raven's Song" explores the many facets of self-acceptance. "Healing Touch" focuses on the therapeutic and restorative powers of Native American flute music. The final track, "Standing At the Gate" is for calling one's inner silence.

CD Reviews

Absolutely beautiful music

"I first heard a track from "Walk Between Worlds" early one morning on a "Sunrise" program on public radio, and since we purchased this CD, it has become our very favorite. Scott Cunningham's Native American flute music is absloutely beautiful. Whether accompanied by traditional drum, cello, guitar, or harp, EVERY song is well done, and just... BEAUTIFUL. If you are not a "New Ager", or not "into" Native American pursuits, don't be put off. There is nothing "strange" about this music at all. It is beautiful music for all people, all ages."
