CD Reviews

One of the best new groups around

"I actually stumbled onto this group by accident. I was at a record store and went to a listening station and thought I had cued up another CD. About 30 seconds into the CD I was completely captivated. It is one of rare groups that put together a "whole" CD as opposed to one or two good songs. Glitterbox reminds me alot of Velvet Underground, The Replacements, or Soul Asylum. If I had bought the record and not the CD it would have been worn out by now."
A wonderful and exciting album full of feeling

"Absolutely brilliant! Tied and Tangled is one of the records that makes me as happy now as it did on my first listen. The songs form perfectly together, like a soundtrack to a really atmospheric and uplifting film, yet it's personal to you for every moment. Each twinkling of the piano in 'Scared of all the World' turns into something special and right away you're blissfully absorbed thanks to Jonny's voice, which is powerful and touching always. He complements lyrics that are clever, lovely and often funny. I think it's amazing how Glitterbox can make music that soars and dives, taking you along with it as if you had no choice but to be carried, like a balloon floating too high, upon such beautiful enthusiasm. My favourite track is 'Summersong'. Reminiscent of Sparklehorse, the beginning is gentle to take you by the hand in face of a breathless crescendo, where after the hazy joy still holds you in a warm smile. You'll be dancing around hopelessly as it plays and feel energised by the time it ends, and the only other band I can think of who do this to me are Belle and Sebastian. I reckon Glitterbox have created a classic here, so you must buy it!"
