Synopsis

Product Description
Guitarist/composer Glenn Jones claims a lengthy, rich relationship to what his longtime friend John Fahey so famously dubbed American Primitive Guitar. Barbecue Bob in Fishtown explores the possibilities of classical composition within American folk forms and solo
instrumentation. Jones is able to discover and project wide-screened
cinema from just 6 & 12 strings, coaxing vivid panoramic images from his
sparkling fingerstyle playing. Experimentations with tuning and various capos of his own invention are wed with delicately expressive playing and a remarkable compositional prowess. Barbecue Bob in Fishtown also finds Jones performing solo on 5-string banjo for the first time on record, exhuming the spirit of Clive s Original Band as seen through an Al
Wilson-esque prism. Barbecue Bob in Fishtown distills the best qualities of
Jones vision into a finely honed summation of his distinctly singular style.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"After so many guitar albums, and so much of the American Primitive that seems to be everywhere - Glenn Jones brings a third (!) masterpiece.

I have no idea how he does it, but the gentle touch of 'Snowdrops' and the tenderness of '1337' are just out-of-this-world and incredible. Glenn Jones is by far one of the most brilliant musicians in this style of music. He's not only a guitarists' guitarist, he's a genuine composer, full of passion, feel and vision.

And this album, can really tell the boys from the men. Hats off to Glenn Jones, I wish more people would acknowledge your brilliant work."
