CD Reviews

If you pine for mid- period Replacements records, buy this!

(4 out of 5 stars)

"I bought this album because someone told me that this album has a simliar feel to the mid period Replacements (Tim, Pleased To Meet Me, etc..). I was leary because this is a worn out reference that rarely lives up to its hype. However, I was more than pleasantly surprised, I was downright giddy! It is not a Mats clone, but the lead singer/songwriter Steve Tagliere has a world weary voice like Mr. Westerburg. However, many people have that "too many cigs and burbon shots" voice. The real link is that Gingersol has a knack for a great hook. (the last similarity is that I don't have a clue what either band sings about sometimes). This really is a great CD, I would encourage you to buy it."
Suprisingly Good

"If a Replacments via Wilco and Neil Young vibe appeals to you than I highly suggest you pick up this cd. There is not one weak track on it. Plenty of crunchy guitar, literate lyrics make this one a real winner. Probably one of the best released in 2000. Gingersol has been a favorite for years in the LA area but until this cd had only released one ep. I would say that they have used their constructively to produce a close to flawless disc!"
It doesn't get much better than this!

"This band just gets better and better!!!! With their first self-titled GINGERSOL EP we were treated to well crafted power pop at it's best. On NOTHING STOPS MOVING, the band's second official release, Steve Tagliere has taken things to a new level. Almost as if the "angry young man" came to the conclusion that everything is definitely more shades of gray then first appearances. Once there, no one explores this area better than Tagliere. An album of songs with maturity, complex layering, and most of all humanity; this album is easily the best thing you will hear for years!. All this without sacrificing Tagliere's trademark hooks and melodies that one can easily get addicted to. "Bring Me Along", "Do You Burn", "Help Push the Car" and "Tuck Me In" are just a few of the stand out tracks on this album. Seth Rothchild's efforts are not lost on this reviewer either. From production, to musicianship, to co-writing Seth is everywhere you turn on this record. Not to mention providing the album's memorable closer "If I Could Dance Again". If you like well written songs that grab you and don't let go, then this album is for you. If you love variety in your instrumentation (everything from banjo - melotron - tape loops) then this album is for you. If you are looking for that impossible place where SPARKLE HORSE meets NEIL YOUNG with a dash of PAUL WESTERBERG, then this album is for you. But most of all... If you like your music effecting your mind and heart with equal magnitude... THIS ALBUM IS FOR YOU!"
