"SUCCO DI VITA is an outstanding compilation album, with more songs than the previous compilation, IL GIORNO PERFETTO. Gianluca's sound is somewhere in the Pop and Rock spectrum. His voice a bit gravelly and, though many of the melodies are beautiful (e.g. "Falco a meta"), I believe that his sound is one that grows on you. "Baby Revolution" is destined to become a classic Italian pop song for its simple but very catchy, rocking chorus. Gianluca's really screaming on a few of these, but he does it so well. All of the tunes are catchy and very satisfying, and the lyrics intelligent if not ground-breaking. I imagine he has a broad fan base in Italy. And I can't recommend the album highly enough to students of Italian, for the lyrics are sung very clearly and are also available on Grignani's official website, where you can also hear a brief sound bite from his current release, IL RE DEL NIENTE (2005; 2006 re-release has added song, the anthem performed at San Remo 2006, "Liberi di sognare").

I was at first put off by the somewhat cheesy shirtless cover, but now am just amused at the Rock star image, something GG himself laments on the song "Rok Star" (on FABBRICA DI PLASTICA). Take a risk -- purchase the CD and support the global reach of contemporary Italian Pop -- you won't be disappointed."
The best ever
