"You will not find first rate music here, but it is varied and quite entertaining. The last piece by Redjeb Jordania (is he related to the conductor?) son of the first president of independent Georgia (post-WWI) who emigrated to the USA in 1960, is a (too) long 31-minute Concerto for Percussion and winds. The notes are good.

I do have some quibbles, however; and they should be noted. The first two pieces come from 1970's UUSR, yet, no mention to the date for the better-sounding lenghty Percussion Concerto, but at least it sounds more modern.

The 'Folk Miniatures', recorded in 1978, are probably better than they sound. The strings sound really poor. A pity.

The 'Mogrelian Songs' are quite good, but the sound is constrained. Listening carefully, I discovered that this has been transcribed from an LP (vinyl record); not only pertains the quality (or lack there-)of the sound, but you can even hear some clicks and plops. That annoyed me. Not because it was done, Mr. Producers, but because it was not advised. At least say it in the liner notes.

Don't pay full for this.
