CD Reviews

Nice collection of Gershwin
C. Sum | San Francisco, CA | 09/26/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I got this CD primarily for the piano solo version of Rhapsody in Blue. Most solo performances of this work sound very thin without the lush 200 piece orchestra to support the piano. I am pleased to say Ms. Buechner has a big rich sound and nice interpretation.

However, the listing of the pieces on the back cover and liner notes mismatched the tracks. They're correctly listed on Amazon's product overview page and showed up correctly when I ripped the CD onto my MP3 player, but the errors on the printed material are annoying."
Great Performances / bad track order
mcewin | St. John's, NF Canada | 10/09/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"These are exuberant performances of Gershwin, recorded in an acoustic that reminds us that these were the pop music of the day. The technical problem below should not dissuade listeners.

Unfortunately, the track order is badly confused: Gershwin enthusiasts will recognize Rhapsody in Blue / Three preludes / Sleepless Night / Impromptu / Seven Foxtrots [Sweet, Maybe, Clap, So Am I, Looking, Someone, Feeling] / Second Rhapsody. I have this on an eMusic download, but Amazon's track order is the same wrong one. Don't know if the album itself is disorderd."
