CD Reviews

Beautifully haunting music
C. A Baker | Santa Rosa CA United States | 05/24/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is an excellent cd for an excellent film. I only have one complaint....we can't get this on video or DVD. The music for this film was an excellent conterpoint to the haunting dark fairy-tale aspect of the film. IF you haven't read Angela Carter or seen this film I would. Mr Fenton is a beautiful composer and it is no surprise that this and his other work (Ever After) are two of my favorites. They even put the naration from the the end of the film(or is it the begining?) on the first track."
Engrossing, imaginative horror fantasy
LioNiNoiL | fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada | 01/22/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Combining the elements of "Little Red Riding Hood" with those of the werewolf genre, this is a wonderful little horror thriller. The quiet background narrative by Sarah Patterson, along with a masterfully ominous soundtrack by George Fenton, help make for a cult classic. A visual and auditory treat, not for those of shallow feeling, or of limited imagination.

Atmospheric and dreamy soundtrack
David Johannesson | Edinburgh Scotland | 02/16/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Lush warm strings, beautiful melodies and harmonies. It worked brilliantly in the film, and makes great listening by itself. It's music of contrasts - dark and light, frightening and reassuring. If you ignore the pointless spoken piece (which only made slightly more sense within the film) it's fantastic. One of my all time favourites."
