CD Reviews

Great Video
R. Rodriguez | Miami, Florida United States | 11/30/2003
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Ok so my review title sucks but read my review i think you'll find it helpful. Now I'm not really sure if I am reviewing the right product because i typed in THREE SIDES LIVE and 2 results came back. Anyway this is a great video of Genesis touring circa 1981/82 in support of the album ABACAB. The track listing is as follows:
BEHIND THE LINES
DUCHES
MISUNDERSTANDING
DODO
ABACAB
NO REPLY AT ALL
WHO DUNNIT
IN THE CAGE(MEDLEY-CINEMA SHOW-SLIPPERMEN)
AFTERGLOW
ME AND SARAH JANE
MAN ON THE CORNERMost of the songs here are from the 3 albums that they'd done as a trio up to that point. They play quite a few of the hits("Misunderstanding", "Ababcab", "No Reply At All", "Man on the Corner", "Turn it on Again"), some older songs i didn't really recognize("In the Cage", "Afterglow"). As a warning this is not an entire concert. It's footage of their '81 tour of America and Europe. I know for sure the first song was performed at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, there was another where they said Wembley which I'm guessing was Wembley Arena because it looked indoors. There's interviews with Phil Collins and the band inbetween songs. There's those weird songs from Abacab like "Dodo" and "Who Dunnit". Then there's also "Me and Sarah Jane" which is kind of an acquired taste. And since this was taken from the "Abacab" tour it would've been nice to hear "Keep it Dark". But i guess you can't please everybody. The video is a total of 84 minutes long and should be released on DVD. Ive never seen or listened to the way we walk concert so I can't really compare and/or contrast them but ive seen the songs on TWWW and most of them are from Genesis, Invisible Touch, and We Can't Dance. So as far as song selection if you like the first albums with Collins at the mic this is the video for you."
