Synopsis

Album Description
UK reissue of this three CD release from the veteran Synth Pop icon. Disconnection contains tracks from his mid '80s Numa Records recordings and features 45 tracks including B-sides and 15 live versions. Though his late '70s/early '80s years on the Beggars Banquet label were his most commercially successful, Gary's recordings for his own Numa label were years ahead of their time, laying the groundwork for Industrial and, believe it or not, Electro-Funk. Features 'Berserker, 'Child With The Ghost', 'Call Out The Dogs', 'My Dying Machine' and many others. Sanctuary.

CD Reviews

Good Overall Comp
07/15/2004
(3 out of 5 stars)

"This is a pretty good idea of what Gary was up to from '84 to '92 with his own record label 'NUMA'. For the price this is a good buy as it contains Gary's experimentation with funk, saxaphones, and female backing vocals. A far cry from the "Wall of sound" material. As great as albums like 79's 'REPLICAS' and 'The Pleasure Principle'. These tracks show a progression and maturity in Numan's songwriting creating a looser sound with slap bass, flowing percussion, saxaphones and driving synths. If you think Gary Numan can be summed up with 'Cars' this should be a plesant surprise and a very interesting listen."
