CD Reviews

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I really love this album, and here is why;

First, I have all of Garou's albums...and I speak almost no French. But I love the feeling and power that Garou puts into his songs and singing! Not to mention his distinct "growl". This Cd being no exception!

Second, this Cd feels and sounds "more grown up". Seul had a pop type feel, Reviens was experimental in a lot of ways and had lots of different sounds to it. This has a lush, "dark" feeling. Very powerful music. With a uniqe mix of instruments, electric guitar and violin. As well as strong acoustic guitar and piano.

Third, there is a nice mix of soft/strong feeling songs (Like, "Quand Je Manque De Toi"). As well as fast, intense with a beat songs( Like, "Le Temps Nous Aime" & "Je Suis Debout"). I have to mention too that my fave song, "Viens Me Chercher", for some reason sounds a great deal like another Canadian singer, Gorden Lightfoot. Sure call me crazy, but the start of this song has a similar use of notes and deep drops in tone that Gorden Lightfoot used on occasion. Except this song was written by the great Jean-Jacques Goldman.

Anyway, this album is really good. I unreservedly recommend this CD to any Garou lover. And anyone into French music. This Cd is well written, powerfully sung and sounds great.

I do have to put one tinny foot note in however. I got the "collectors edition", with the two sided CD/DVD. And as this is also an SACD it doesn't play on everything. And if you don't play it in the right format, the sound quality is ok. Still sounds good, but definitely a "closed" sound. The highs and lows are cut off.
