Tom Cipullo comments that the works on this recording -- all world premieres -- span a decade-and-a-half of his compositional life. The earliest (The Husbands) dates from 1993 and the most recent (Of a Certain Age and Insomnia) were written in 2009. Cipullo's "dream team" of interpreters include soprano Laura Strickling, pianist Liza Stepanova, mezzo-sopranos Jennifer Beattie and Naomi Louisa O'Connell, baritones Steven Eddy and Michael Anthony McGee, tenor Ian McEuen and pianist Brent Funderburk. Known mostly for his vocal music, Cipullo has also composed orchestral, chamber, and solo instrumental works. His opera, Glory Denied, has been performed to critical acclaim in New York, Washington, and Texas.
