"gadgetguru, you turd, this is JT's real record remixed by michael watts, the most prolific Screw DJ still living. the distorted voice which sounds horrible is of course the result of the "screwed and chopped" or "slowed and throwed" style quite deliberately applied by the DJ. JT probably paid watts a cool five grand or so to make this record sound so nightmarish to you. screwed and chopped is taking over the world, as you will see, and guru, you must swim fast or you'll sink like a stone, for the times they are a'changin'. with that out of the way, I will say that this album is probably not the best vehicle for the screwed style. aside from modern-day bluesmen like Tupac and E-40, the west coast sound generally isn't that Screw-friendly; its flavor is just too singular, too disctinctive as it is. but this album has some more specific hurdles. the cheesy original production falls into the category of "west coast garage", the game himself appears to be in something of a formative stage lyrically, and watts sounds like he just needed to make a few quick dollars to put into his studio so he could make his remix of Paul Wall's "The People's Champ" sound bangin like a mug. but this timepiece is worth owning for anyone with an interest in the respective evolutions of both artists, and if you're a fan of either of them, it is likely that you will find something to enjoy in this collection. is it as satisfying as "the Documentary" or the screwed version of "People's Champ?" hell no, of course not but Screw it. it's a fun record to lean to, like pretty much any other 5000 remix, so shut up and ride."
