Finely crafted sonatas

"I had no experience of music by Gallo, but as CPO is consistently good at producing recordings of music by lesser know composers, I took a chance.

This disc is not a top favourite of mine, but it's a very enjoyable collection of sonatas, very much of the age, and with a sensitive turn of phrase. It gets played a reasonable amount and still gives me pleasure after having listened to it fifty or more times. There is much to enjoy, not least the accomplished playing and somehow cozy atmosphere of the recording."
