CD Reviews

A Classic Album !

"Driving around England in 1976, "Breakaway" came on the radio, and I got the LP and brought it home to San Francisco. Amazing songs, great production. No wonder Art Garfunkel "borrowed" the song AND the album title for his own solo record. He covered several of their songs, including "A Heart In New York", which he and Simon did in Central Park!

Of course I then collected all their LP's, and was panicked when the CD's did not immediately appear.

Passing through London in 1994, I noticed a small ad for a "charity reunion concert" they were to give at the Half Moon in Putney. They hadn't played together in 15 years, or so they said, but the 100 or so who were on hand were treated to a "greatest hits" show that was intimate and joyous. I sang along, as did most of the crowd, and I had tears coming down my cheeks. What a special night!

And finally, most of their recorded output did land on CD. but I had to transfer their first self-titled LP to CD-R myself.

Lyle had gone on to write for people like TINA TURNER, penning her "What's Love Got To Do With It?" smash, but the shadow of your fellow humans' taste has been long covering their greatness as a duo.

I can't fit all their best stuff onto just one CD. Try that with anybody else except Dylan and the Beatles. I challenge you!

These guys made beautiful, tasteful music which is still good today.

Be daring! Start with BREAKAWAY, or a GREATEST HITS. Come find me if you don't like them. I'll be waiting outside!"
Great memories

"I bought this in the 70's on vinyl and got destroyed like all my old vinyls. found it on amazon and got excellent service. This is one of my favorites. surprised to see it venued as acid rock.. its romantic rock as best i can describe it. anyone will like it if given a chance. I first saw these guys at the rivoli in indy with supertramp. chalked it up as top 10 concerts of all time.... enough.. bye.....deestop"
