CD Reviews

If you like Bee Gees Harmony, you must like this one
Kay | UK | 02/03/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If you expected a return of same old Barry's First of May, you might have been disappointed. This is a fresh new take by Robin and G4. G stands for Guildhall School of Music in UK (prestigious music college which produced many world famous classic singers). After all, what is the point of having the same First of May, which you could have listened on vinyl? If you open your heart and listen to it without any preconceptions, you would appreciate it. 30 odd years after I first enjoyed beautiful harmony of Bee Gees, I am captivated by the beautiful harmony of G4. As you can see on this CD, G4 always perform live and arrange songs into 4 parts harmony by themselves. Dream It's Over is fabulous. When A Child Is Born video makes you smile."
Dont Dream its over makes this single!

"The bonus song Dont Dream it's Over makes this single and it's worth buying for that alone. G4 have used their "classically trained voices" to do what they do best - take a great pop song and put their stamp on it. The live version of The First of May taken from G4's Tour is very well performed. Again G4 (in particular Jon Ansell) sing this song beautifully with great power and complement Robin Gibbs lovely quirky voice. The video for When A child is born is quite charming and the harmonies from G4 throughout are beautiful. An all round good single and well worth buying in my book!"
G4 - Gibb 4 Gotten!
Martin A Hogan | San Francisco, CA. (Hercules) | 01/18/2006
(2 out of 5 stars)

"I don't know what G4 stands for, but there are some nasty guesses. They are not the problem. Robin Gibb singing a Barry Gibb song is so strange; I don't know what to make of it! Forget the song - it's mediocre here. The videos are simply stoic as well. The best thing about this single is the cover of "Don't Dream Its Over", which sounds like some serious effort was put into it. That alone is worth the single and you are hearing this from a HUGE Bee Gees fan."
