Synopsis

Album Description
2008 album from the Detroit-based experimental Rock outfit led by Randall Nieman, a collaboration with members of bands that influenced Fuxa. Track one features Stephen Lawrie and Jo Doran who were core members of The Telescopes. 'Techno Light' was previously a single on Rocket Girl, receiving rave reviews in indie and dance magazines alike. Randall hung out at Rocket Girl HQ where he recorded with label mates, Glen Johnson and Gabe McDonough, of Piano Magic, the result: 'Amber Gambler'. Randall became best buddies with Sonic Boom and during one of their recording sessions, they covered Suicide's track 'Girl'. Sonic and Will Carruthers (Spacemen 3) both contribute to this album. Rocket Girl.

CD Reviews

What a great CD and dang hard to find!

"I originally heard the track "Today" on Rhapsody and was Really impressed. Then I heard "Rainy Day Dream Away" and those 2 were enough for me to try and find this CD, boy am I glad I did. I am a huge fan of ambient and chill type music but this CD is simply a work of art. The feeling that comes across in the music is amazing. I think of perfect summer nights on Cape Cod, the quiet slosh of waves breaking on the shore of Lake George, powerful memories of the perfect moments in time in my life with several songs. Yet other songs on it make me think of nights in little hip bars in Brooklyn in NYC with a chill smoky jazz feel. It's rare to find ambient music with such powerful emotions simultaneously encased within. I'm amazed and I've only had this CD for 3 hours so far. I waited a long time to get this CD, it's been on my wishlist for almost 3 years, it was a tough find but well worth the search. It's a shame more people haven't discovered this little Gem."

"Worthy choice of this Detroit indie-experimental duo. Only previous listen I've had of Fuxa was a single track on a various artists CD. Duo is made up of Randall Nieman-guitar, moog, theremin and sampling (I'm sure I saw him on tour last year with former Spacemen 3 Pete Kember as Spectrum) and Ryan Anderson-bass, synthesizer and drums. Tunes here I was most impressed with were both versions of "Rainy Day Dream Away", "Amber Gambler", "Girl" and the seven-minute piece "Workerbee 5000". "Fuxa 2000' is better than what I expected. Some of their influences are notably the Silver Apples, Hawkwind and Neu!. Should appeal to fans of Stereolab, Bowery Electric, Sea And Cake, Windy And Carl and the previously mentioned Spacemen 3. Check it out."
