CD Reviews

One for the Road
B. Houchen | Denver, CO | 06/29/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have been a fan of Future of Forestry for some time now, and one of the things that I truly love about this band is their ever evolving and adapting way of making music. Another reviewer here compared this album to Sigur Ross, Something I am dumbfounded by, While I agree that this album is not like the First two albums in the Travel Series, I would have to argue the Second album was not a whole lot like the First one in the same series.

I love the fact that this album picks up the drive and force of songs like Hills of indigo Blue, and Holiday from Travel II, and yet in true FOF style it never repeats styles completely, or even gives overlap of themes or structures. My family and I are taking a road trip this summer down the Pacific Coast Highway, and I can tell you right now the Travel Series will be the most played out of all our music on that Trip.

This is a Great album that I would Highly recommend to anyone who has an interest is innovative Rock music."
Different, Not Bad
Anelliott | 06/30/2010
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Firstly, I do not think Travel III is bad at all. It is different. I don't think FOF was trying to copy the sound of any of the previous two Travel Eps. Thus this is a different and more simple album. It doesn't have the huge grab of the more full sounds from I and II. This album is more subtle in its grabs. It takes an appreciation for what this album is trying to be and not for how it holds up against the other Travel Eps.

With that said, I think this is a truly good sign for FOF. Because it shows that they are not settling for a sound that everyone loved in the first two Travel EPs. Even though those two EPs put them on the map of a lot of peoples musical likes, they are not content to just stay there and crank out "same" albums. They are progressing and trying different things. This is a risky move, but I do think it will pay off for them in the end. I appreciate a band much more that will be willing to try new things and maybe not do so well at them, than a band that just finds a sound that makes them popular or sells CD's and never innovates on that sound.

This is not the final leg of the Travel journey for FOF, they are moving still and their musical journey's have just begun. I expect big things from this group for their new full length CD. Hopefully they will take what they've learned from this journey and apply all the brillance to what is to come.

Over all, a good end to the Travel seires."
