CD Reviews

Murk on a roll.

"This is the 3rd single this year to hit the club charts for the guys. Following "Dark Beat" and Some Lovin' " comes the Gospel house that is "Rise Up" . This is the follow up to the number one hit of 2002 "You Got Me(Burning Up)" and finds them on Star 69 label instead of MCA. The Cd comes with 3 mixes that are very well done. The Peter Rauhofer Universal Club Mix(8:10) is the best mix here. Just tremendous !!! The Junior Vasquez Earth Anthem Mix(10:13) is TRIBAL. The final mix is the Murk Club Mix(9:10) that almost matches the intensity of the Peter Rauhofer mix. Great single that is very religious in vocals and lyrics."
Uplifting Mixes

"Rise Up is The Funky Green Dogs' second release from their album Supercalifornia. Rise Up combines the soulfoul voice of lead singer Tamara Wallace with gospel inspired vocals, which results in a really nice combination. The Track listing is:

(1) Peter Rauhofer Universal Club Anthem (8:12)- Much of the same vein as his promo only Universal Club remix of Madonna's Impressive Instant. It has a very similar bassline. The mood is dark, with subtle synths, keeping a darker feel. Full vocals are used. (2)Junior Vasquez Earth Anthem Mix (10:15) - This is another good remix. Not quite as dark as the previous remix. This track has a little more of a tribal feel to it. Junior has been turning out great danceable club mixes for many many years, and this track is no different. A nice contrast to the Universal Club Mix. (3)Murk Club Mix (9:10) - This track is extremely similar to the album version, almost an extended album version. With a few added elements. Although, dont let that fool you into thinking this isnt a great club mix. Overall, a great collection of mixes. I would have liked to have seen a few more remixes from different artists, or even a couple different remixes from Peter or Junior, or even Murk (the 2 guys behind FGD)."

"Any one that has heard this song knows it is one of those that will be around for some time. It is an ultimate in dance as we would expect from Funky Green Dogs they have never let us down yet. It combines a gospel flavor that we often see these days to really appeal to our spirituality so not only can you get and upliving positive message from this hit you will feel the power.C"
