CD Reviews

Good album for f--k fans
M. fogarty | bkln, ny | 11/22/2004
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I have never written a review, but f--k gets such bad reviews, which is unfortionate considering that every album amazon sells has all these great reviews, and I figured this album deserves at least ONE good review.

So I like these guys. They're clumsy and sloppy, but they put out a real flavor and personality with their tunes, and I like that. Plus, their songs are really short, which reminds me of what I love about the Minutemen. They just have these little puffs of songs with quirky lyrics, which makes for great Velvet Underground style easy listening, and each song has the potential to really grab you and get you excited, with the added bonus of a seeming lack of pretention and a genuine interest in putting out little ditties that they enjoy.

Get this album if you like mellow and cheeky and a little weird.

Get this album if you like meaningless lalala type singing, and pointless songs that you can interpret to your heart's content.

Don't get this if you like the Eagles, or Blink 182, or top 50 pop ditties.

Not for the dull witted.

"As you can probably tell by the reviews, this band is not for everyone. The closest thing I can compare them to is Ween. They have the same jokey, sometimes obscene sense of humor and nutty lyrics. You can tell by their name that they plan to stay outside of the mainstream. They are great fun, but only if you have a keen and slightly snarky sense of humor. MTV fans should probably stay away."
