Synopsis

Album Description
Toledo's FROM THE SHALLOWS are bringing back the brutal days of metallic hardcore that were first introduced and innovated by legendary Ohio acts like Integrity, Ascension and Ringworm. Their 2007 debut, Beyond The Unknown, which was produced by Joey Sturgis (The Devil Wears Prada & Gwen Stacy), is a brilliant exploration into all the best aspects of what hardcore and metal have come to offer the music community today. Super slick production only helps to enhance FROM THE SHALLOW's technical prowess and mechanized rhythmic assault. They are catchy in every definition of the word as the songs possess all that the kids crave: guitar solos, melodic thrash metal, bass drops and of course breakdowns. Having already shared the stage with such respected acts as: Himsa, Suicide Silence, Dead To Fall, The Agony Scene & The Devil Wears Prada its only a matter of time before FROM THE SHALLOWS take the next step from torchbearers of Ohio metalcore to conquerors of the world.

"this is some great deathcore. amazing drumming, chugging breakdowns, gutoral screams that will make your skin crawl. for fans or all shall perish, as blood runs black, job for a cowboy etc..."
A Solid Release

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Never really been a big fan of From The Shallows but this is easily their best release to date. With song writing far more technical then anything before the put down some truly brutal riffs and breakdowns. The guitars will keep you windmilling for hours and the breakdowns are simply chaotic.

The vocals range from higher pitched screams/yells to a deep guttural growl and the duel vocals truly adds to the music giving more atmosphere to many of the songs. As well as the breakdowns their are some fair quality solos something that bands of this type normally lack in. From The Shallows guitars are of good quality and you'll oftenly find yourself going back to hear a riff or lick you didn't catch the first time through.

All in all it is a solid release from the boys down in Ohio. I would suggest this to fans of the Hardcore scene and fans of bands such as Himsa, Suicide Silence, Dead To Fall, The Agony Scene ETC. Basically if your looking for good Hardcore Metal this is your best bet right now. Its heavy, brutal and full of superb guitars and pummeling drums."
