Synopsis

Amazon.com
Using real frog and other wildlife sounds, A Froggy Christmas strives hard for the Xmas yuks with titles like "Croakin' Bells" (by Frog Marley), "Blue Christmas" (Elvis Frogley), "We Wish You a Froggy Christmas (a Ventures-like track by the Surf Frogs), and others. As to who this bog-minded oddity is intended for, it's hard to say: kids might miss the musical jokes but love the real croaks; adults might get the jokes but roll their eyes at the froggy antics. Even though the record purports to be giving "a portion of the proceeds to various non-profit nature conservation groups," none are listed. Let the buyer beware; here's one slippery record Santa will have trouble slipping into the stockings. --Martin Keller

CD Reviews

Grin your way through the holidays.
12/04/1998
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I don't know about you, but I've become grinchy about Christmas music. I tire even of the classics by mid-December, and I get downright disagreeable in the presence of chipmunks, barking dogs, or other critters "singing" anything at all. So when a friend handed over a copy of "Froggy Christmas" I was leery, but I popped it in the deck on the way to the Mall. Humbug. I was ready. But I wasn't ready at all for the grin that grabbed my face and wouldn't let go for the rest of the afternoon. Try to stay grumpy through "The Twelve Frogs of Christmas" with the hooters and croakers and peepers and cheepers of The Frogmens Chorus going way over the edge and having a wonderful time of it. Or keep a straight face with Frog Marley's rendition of "Croakin' Bells." I dare you. Christmas isn't just for chipmunks anymore."
Best Christmas Album ever!

"It's so much fun to hear the frogs and other wildlife sing to these classic tunes. I love this CD. Its a tradition to listen to it every single christmas. It's a really great CD."

"We bought this CD for our 2 year old son for Christmas last year. He loved it for the holidays and now he wants to listen to it year-round. We have froggies croaking all the time!"
