"On her debut solo record (albeit under the auspices of "fritter"), Elizabeth Steen proves herself a confident and perceptive songwriter and singer in her own right. Making excellent use of the savvy she's cultivated as a touring and studio player with the likes of Tanya Donnelly, Count Zero, and Natalie Merchant, Steen has crafted an album of airy, melodic pop that, while reminiscent of some of its more radio-friendly contemporaries, exudes wit and sex appeal without bowing to the mercenary. Steen hits her stride on the opening track, "Scapegrace Sister," and never looks back. The album traverses a familiar musical landscape, but with Steen's unique, at times slightly skewed perspective. You can NOT regret buying this album. You might put it back on the shelf after a listen or two, but it will find its way back into your CD changer. And don't be surprised if it sneaks into your car player, too!"
