CD Reviews

We never grow tired of Globalullabies

"My daughter has listened to Feyda Epstein's Globallubies every night for the past sixteen months, almost every night of her life. We never grow tired of the rich, soothing voice of Freyda, singing beautiful harmonies and lovely melodies. Many songs are sung in a different language as well as in English. The blending of the two lanuguages is nautral and smooth. The African lullaby has crickets and a calming rythym, the Japanese song has the delicacy of flower petals and the Czch song sounds like a music box. Freyda weaves in and out of the different languages with a vocal ease and fluidity. The instrumentation is interesting enough for adult ears, yet simple enough to lull a babe to sleep. Truly a must have for any music collection."

"LOVE THIS CD! Love all the songs. But songs 2-7, and 9 and 11 my favorites. the song, "Sakura - Owayare" is beautiful, but you really have to wait at least 2 minutes into the song to hear the words. Another personal Favorite, "Washing Song" and " Umur Mayne". Freyda had, without a doubt, the most BEAUTIFUL voice in the world. She was able to speak and sing the words effortlessly in any language as if it were her native tongue. There are English, Spanish, Japanese, and German songs just to name a few of the many languages spoken/sung. I cannot tell you how many of this particular C.D I have bought. So many people have wanted to borrow this from me, and I just never got them back! The first one I bought was back in 1996, when my son was only months old. We heard it playing in a high end childs clothing store and fell in love with the songs. The second time I bought this C.D was the same month she died, Although I didn't know at the time she had passed. You will fall in love with the C.D, even when your children have grown out of listening to lullabies. This C.D will forever be in my heart, as I carry wonderful memories along with it.

Thank you, Freyda. You will forever be remembered in our hearts. Rest In Peace. Freyda Epstein- 1956-2003"

"We csme to this cd from our other current favorite cd, "A Child's Celebration of the World". Freyda has a song on there with "Good Night" in 9 languages, and I wanted to learn it. I got this cd for the liner notes, and learned the song. (It is wonderful.) In the process we discovered these extraordinary additional songs that Freyda has arranged and sings. She has a language coach for most of the songs, as they are in a wide variety of tongues. Her music is gentle, sweet and lilting, interesting while also invoking rest. This is my favorite cd now for cuddling my 16-month old daughter in the evening. Sweet dreams to you... P.S. The other cd I mentioned is our favorite "waking up" music."
