CD Reviews

His singles are stronger than this EP
Daniel W. Kelly | Long Island, NY United States | 08/20/2007
(3 out of 5 stars)

"This "mini-LP" will satisfy fans of simple straightforward dance tunes, but there's nothing too outstanding--these short songs, most of which are less than 4 minutes, could have been added as extra tracks on one of Ford's much better remix singles. "Dirty Little Secret" sounds like something that may have been written for Cher's 1998 CD. "Gotta Keep Movin" has a great bassline and definitely deserves a remix disc. "That Sound" has a very clunky beat and very flamboyant vocals--again, remixes might do wonders for this track, which kind of sounds like something Ricky Martin might record (thing 'she bangs'). "Mi Amore No More" is just dull. "The Fire" needs to remixed into a tribal and hardhouse slammer, because it has tons of potential. And finally, you get the hot cover of the George Michael track "Too Funky"--which has an acoustic track hidden at the end of it.

Giuseppe D. is a fantastic dance remixer, but here, but in producing this CD, things get a little uneven--partially because some of the melodies aren't strong enough. But overall, it's got a few tracks that should have been huge club singles for Ford, who gives some good vocal performances."
