Urban Garden is guitarist Fred Woodard's third CD as a leader, but his first with this set of musicians, buttressed by the seasoned and open minded bass work of Hill Greene and drummer Yoron Israel. These veterans approach to space and group interaction is the result of three tasteful musicians grooving together. Six of the eleven tracks are original compositions by Fred, plus covers of Wes Montgomery's Jingles, McCoy Tyner's Island Birdie and a few other choice cover tunes.
