CD ReviewsFred Hersch beginnings Santi Spadaro | Auburn, AL | 11/30/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is Fred Hersch's first recording as a leader. His style is not yet completely defined, yet all his talent is here, along with some of his later fixations, like Wayne Shorter's tune Miyako. This last tune is one of the best tracks, performed in a very "herschy" way, the first in a long line of beautiful versions by the Fred Hersch trio + eventual guests. My least favorite track is One Finger Snap: maybe the tempo is too fast and he ends up playing too many licks. The performances of Marc Johnson and Joey Baron are also great. Definitively recommended, whether you're a fan of Fred Hersch or not."
