A Must for Jazz Sax Lovers

"Five of the eight selections on this CD are the everlastingly loved works of the very top composers in American Popular Music: George Gershwin,Irving Berlin,Cole Porter, Rogers & Hart. This is not to overlook a sixth soothing selection by the great Eubie Blake, "Memories of You". Now the artistry of the Fraser MacPherson Quartet comes into play. This group is a big hit in Soviet Russia and they certainly should be better known and appreciated in the U.S. No one produces more dulcet tones on the saxaphone or more interesting improvisations than Fraser. Guitarist Oliver Gannon adds his outstanding talent to the quartet. This is superb, highly listenable jazz! MacPherson clearly is in a class with other sax greats such as Bud Freeman,Zoot Sims, Coleman Hawkins, Stan Getz, Scott Hamilton and the upcoming young New Orleans saxaphonist, John McNary."
