CD Reviews

A REALLY GREAT set of tunes!
F. Owens | madision co. ind | 04/27/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This IS a really GREAT set of tunes! I think the best collection so far. Here is 51 tracks, this is the quick breakdown of what you get. From 1962 to 1994 the Four Seasons had 48 charted songs. 34 are here, there is 14 missing, 2 of which are Christmas. Here are 3 of their b-sides: "Connie-o" > "Silence is golden" > "Betrayed", and 3 that never charted, but many of us know them any way. They are: "Peanuts" > "The sun ain't gonna shine anymore" > "You're ready now". A real plus on this c.d. is to have the Frankie Valli tracks also! From 1966 to 1980 Valli had 14 charted songs 11 are here, missing only 3 that did not do well. The 14 MISSING songs of the Four Seasons are:

1. "You're the apple of my eye" #62 in 1956.

2. "Santa claus is coming to town" #23 in 1962.

3. "Soon (I'll be home again)" #77 in 1963

4. "New mexican rose #36 in 1963.

5. "That's the only way" #88 in 1963.

6. "Sincerely" #75 in 1964.

7. "I saw mommy kissing Sants Claus" #19 in 1964.

8. "On the good ship Lollipop" #87 in 1966. (from movie "Bright Eyes" starring Shirley Temple.

9. "You're nobody till somebody loves you" #96 in 1966

10. "Electric stories" #61 in 1968.

11. "Something's one her mind" #98 in 1969.

12. "Down the hall" #65 in 1977.

13. "Spend the night in love" #91 in 1980.

14. The dance remix of, "December 1963, oh what a night" #14 in 1994.

The 3 MISSING Frankie Valli songs are:

1. "We're all alone" # 78 in 1976.

2. "Fancy dancer" #77 in 1979.

3. "Where did we go wrong" #90 in 1980.

This anthology is pretty comprehensive, but if your a Four Seasons fan and your looking for all of their single releases you'll know the 17 songs to look for.

This double c.d. set is very nicely presented, and includes a 31 page booklet with many details of their career, and some great pictures of them over the years.

I highly recommend this set!"

"When I was growing up, the Four Seasons was one of my favorite muscial groups. Every song they sang meant something at different times of my life. Just hearing the songs now triggers those fond memories and that's the main reason I wanted to have this product. The quality of the sound and all their hits are included. It truly does bring tears to my eyes at times when I stroll down memory lane listening to this set of CDs. It's a terrific collection and I will treasure it and enjoy it every time I play it."
