CD Reviews

Romantic Salsa from an outstanding performer
Michael J. Mazza | Pittsburgh, PA USA | 01/12/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Frankie Negron's "Lo Que Llevo por Dentro" represents this superb vocalist at his best. The Spanish-language songs on this album combine romantic lyrics with the percussion-rich rhythms of Salsa music. Frankie's voice is distinctive: a combination of masculine power and boyish sweetness. And he brings great passion to each song on this disc.A special bonus to this disc is the appearance of the excellent song "Enamorado de Ti" in two versions: one salsa, one a gentle ballad. Both are, like the rest of the album, excellent. Some of Latin music's best songwriters, including Leo Vanelli, contributed compositions to "Lo Que Llevo por Dentro." If you love Latin music in general or Salsa in particular, check out this album."
Frankie Negron is the real deal.

"The trend in pop music today is that "Hispanic" music is "in." But too often what passes as "in" is mere pop music--in Spanish. Ricky Martin, Shakira, and Paulina Rubio are typical of this bland trend. But Frankie Negron is the real deal. His brand of Salsa is alive and pure. The sound is both original and classic, but never dowdy or boring. Frankie Negron is not a "back to the roots" type artist; he honors the pure Salsa sound by doing it right. This album will appeal both to purists and teenagers alike. Frankie is the real deal. Ricky Martin is to Frankie Negron what the Monkees were to the Beatles."
Good Dance CD, But Nothing Out of the Ordinary
Michael J. Mazza | 01/11/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Frankie's third cd is a good one that will keep people dancing in nightclubs. His voice still sounds as good as ever. However, there isn't really any song that stands out on this cd. I would rank this cd a notch below No me Compares. If you like Frankie's music, then you will like this one."
