"This is more by way of advice than a review and the content of it is to say that "SUGAR COATED BABY" is listed under the wrong Frankie Miller. Frankie Miller from Glasgow, Scotland recorded THE ROCK and HIGHLIFE, however "Sugar Coated Baby" was recorded by an American guy who sang country along the lines of Hank Williams."
Great, old-fashion honkytonk country...!

"I would strongly have to disagree with (another)review of this album... There were plenty of shameless Hank Williams imitators in the early 1950s, but few had the arresting originality of Frankie Miller. This CD brings together material from two old Bear Family LPs, and it is some of the best "unknown" country music you could ever hope to find. Sure, Miller apes Hank's tone and style, but his own songwriting flair and heartfelt delivery are stunning. One of the best single-disc Bear Family releases in recent memory, this is classic 'Fifties country at its groovy, pre-rockabilly best. Highly recommended!"
Incredible Honky Tonk

"Now this is true Country Music. Frankie Miller had a sound quite similar to the great Hank Williams, although not quite as naturally polished. But, Frankie's delivery was quite a bit more complex than Hank's and he should've been heralded by all. It's a shame that he remains an obscure figure in Country Music. If you're a true Country Music fan, there is no way that you can be anything less than completely satisfied with the purchase of this CD; it will become part of your regular rotation, if you dont wear it out first. Bear Family Records is responsible for the release of this CD, and like all of their work, the sound on this one is superb. There are 30 numbers here covering Frankie Miller's career from 1951-1956, and a few songs that were not released until 1996! Buy it; it's worth every penny of the price. A+"
