CD Reviews

A blessing and a sacred journey
K. N. Nelson | California, USA | 08/05/2001

"Like another reviewer I, too, walked into a store and heard this CD playing and it was instant recognition that I had to have this album. I was stunned by its message to my senses. Apparently whatever I needed to know or hear occured within me at that moment and it was both an opening and a beginning. That is the purpose of this incredible music. As the booklet suggests, it takes you where you need to be. My experience was a sense of entering upon a sacred journey into my soul and spirit for attunement and a renewed sense of freedom and joy. Each time I listen to this music I find that the "element" changes in concert with the focus required for the inner work even when I am consciously unaware of the underlying motive. Beyond the intellectual and emotional aspects stimulated by this superlative album, the music is exquisite. The various exotic instruments used to "vocalize" or "evoke" a response within the listener moves this spiritual symphony to a whole different realm of artistic creativity. To say that it is beautiful cannot even come close to describing the profundity of its glory. This recording is a true blessing on every level."

"This is a very creative music album. Western & far Oriental music has been fused to create a very soothing music album. Some of the best tracks in this album are:

1. Ch'ien (Heaven): A perfect introductory track that sets the tone for the entire album. Mostly western classical with oriental interludes.

2. K'un (Earth): This is a complexly arranged track that starts off with a western classical theme and progressively merges into an energetic oriental theme. It is a powerful track that might prompt you to swing your body and mind in resonance.

6. K'an (Water): In my opinion this is the best track on the album. It has beautiful rhythmic cadence (justifying the name of the track). This tracks plays a string instrument (played like a violin) that isn't exactly from the orient, but from the middle east and is also popular in the deserts of India. The stringed instrument overlays the rhythmic beat to create a soothing sonicscape that will inspire a feeling of happiness.

"I bought this years ago! But I still listen to it quite a lot. It's all the forces of nature mixed with human emotions. Each song is rather long, and different, but beautiful all together.
Listening to it it makes me feel as if i'm in a sunny forest, hiding from a storm, running through a meadow, or flying..."
