Francis Cabrel's 4th Album ...
S. Kahn | San Francisco, CA | 01/19/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This is Francis Cabrel's 4th album which came out in 1981. This CD contains some of his earlier works which is lesser known here in the US. But despite the early material, it is by no means a rough diamond. It stands up well on its own. This album is easy to listen to from the start, unlike his first album "Les Murs de Poussiere" which needed a few passes to truly warm up to. Listen carefully to the music and lyrics, and you will soon find yourself loving all the songs. The music is wonderful on its own, but you really must translate his lyrics to fully appreciate their beauty. Lyrics are included with the CD.The best-known song is "Repondez-Moi". I'm a bit biased since I love ALL his songs (I have all 13 of his CDS; and 2 of these 13 are 3-CD set live recordings) but some other lesser known songs worth listening to include: "Carte Postale", "Elle S'en Va Vivre Ailleurs", and "Comme Une Madone Oubliee".I notice that Amazon doesn't enumerate the songs on the CD. Here is the list so you know what you're getting on this CD: (1) Carte Postale, (2) Même Si J'y Reste, (3) Elle S'en Va Vivre Ailleurs, (4) Répondez-Moi, (5) Ma Place Dans Le Trafic, (6) Chandelle, (7) Comme Une Madone Oubliée, (8) Tu Es Toujours La Même, (9) Chauffard, (10) Je M'ennuie De Chez Moi."
